Katie Kearney was a busy hockey mom long before she became the face of the Massachusetts all terrain vehicle management law. Today we recount her struggle in the latest of The Safety Institute’s Survivors of Injury video series:
The Massachusetts law is the first in the nation to ban children age 14 and under from riding or operating four-wheeled ATVs. There are a number of talented and influential people, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Concerned Families for ATV Safety, who are making a sound case children and ATVs don’t mix and that such laws should be implemented everywhere.
That’s the message The Safety Institute, Katie Kearney, and other safety advocates will bring to the Consumer Product Safety Commission at the agency’s two-day National ATV Summit on Oct. 11 and 12.
